Women’s Leaders UK
Trustee since 2020.
Women Leaders UK is a registered charity established to recognise outstanding women, promote and strengthen women’s leadership, and support gender equality and diversity.
Women Leaders UK is the brainchild of Jan Flawn CBE, founder of specialist neurological care provider, PJ Care, based in Milton Keynes and in Peterborough. After winning the national CBI First Women of Business Services award in 2013, Jan realised how important it is to celebrate the achievements of women.
Our activities throughout the year include a mentoring programme for women who aspire to lead. In 2020 we expect to develop this work by providing more professional development and networking opportunities. This work is funded by our Gala Awards event which celebrates the achievements of local women across a range of sectors.
MK act
MK Act is a charity in Milton Keynes which works with over 100 families’ everyday to help them move on from fear and abuse. Act has been providing safe emergency accommodation in Milton Keynes for women and their children escaping domestic violence for over 40 years.
I am partners of the charity donating some of my fight money I receive along with organising events with my Enigma fitness team to help fundraise for them. So far since January 2018, untill April 2019 we have raised £10,500 for the cause.
I also volunteer in organising training sessions for the women.
TOUCH GLOVES
The Touch Gloves project was set up by myself in May 2022, the project aims to give young people aged between 11-15 years old, the opportunity to learn how to take part in Martial arts, with professional trainers such as Kelly Haynes, from Total Dojo/Enigma Fitness (Bletchley, Milton Keynes)
Touch Gloves uses the discipline & skills taught in Kickboxing & Muay Thai, to direct teenagers energy into developing positive behaviours and skill sets, such as self-confidence, self-discipline and self-esteem.
On top of the health and fitness benefits of these sports, these skills can then be used to positively impact their lives and influence their peers.
The aim of the project is to prevent young people from getting drawn into negative influences and anti-social behaviour, but more importantly to help the youngsters grow into more confident, resilient individuals.
The project takes place in secondary schools in Milton Keynes, for more information please contact Kelly Haynes - kelly@enigmafitnessmk.co.uk
